New Encaustic Paintings with Sundance Catalog
In which, I share some new work now available with the Sundance Catalog and tease about an upcoming Nature Journaling class with the Sundance Nature Alliance.
Almost my entire time living here in Utah has been somehow connected to Sundance. When I first moved to Park City at the end of 2004, I worked for a restaurant on Main Street called Zoom, which was a Sundance restaurant. (It was also incidentally where Matt and I met - we had an adorable Meet Cute when I applied for the job and he ended up training me to wait tables there.)

Then when I returned from grad school with a degree in Civil & Environmental Engineering, I worked for Sundance Resort and started their sustainability program, tracking the ski resort’s carbon footprint and working to enhance recycling, waste management, energy use, etc. I loved that job. Sadly, when the economy tanked, the funding for my position wasn’t available and I couldn’t continue that work. But ultimately, that led me down the path towards becoming an artist. At the time, it felt like such a hit, but now it’s just part of the path.

Fast forward about a decade after I’ve become a full-time artist, I had a couple shows and Artist in Residence experiences at Sundance Resort. Then in 2020, I began sharing my work with the Sundance Catalog, a catalog I grew up pouring through, ogling over the clothes and the jewelry. Having my work in its pages was never something I dreamt possible, but am honored now to be there. Full disclosure, the Sundance Catalog and the resort are no longer connected business-wise, but the catalog is still based out of Utah and holds to some of the same principles, especially in promoting artists and hand-crafted goods.
So, it is with great pleasure that I share with you the new work I have available with the Sundance Catalog. While it may not be available to see in person before you buy, purchasing online is super easy and the art will be treated with kid gloves to deliver to your door. I’m excited to continue sharing my work with a wider audience that may not travel to a ski town in the Mountain West but appreciates artists, hand-crafted goods and craftsmanship. I do love sharing a bit about what it is like to live in these mountains through my artwork.

Sundance Catalog takes such amazing images of the work and I am always thrilled with their styling. Makes me want to hire them to design my own home. Although it wouldn’t take them much time to design 600 square feet of an A-frame cabin. Big shout out to the amazing stylists and photographers over at Sundance Catalog.

And In Other News…
In addition to the new work for Sundance Catalog, I’m thrilled to announce I’ll be working with the Sundance Nature Alliance to teach a class about Nature Journaling this August. We’ll be hosting a class the morning of Saturday, August 26th to explore the Preserve and see how we can take our observations of nature to deepen our relationship with the land and use that to make art. The class link will be posted very soon and I’ll keep you updated as soon as we have it. But I wanted to let you know ASAP so you can mark it on your calendar. I’ve VERY excited to be a part of this and hope to do more work with the Preserve in the future.
